Elliot and Any Come Out Fast at the Summer Slowdown

With the rains rolling in and our fairways either flooded or planted, we decided to organize one last tournament before the course became nearly impossible to use, as always happens this time of year. The course was wet already no doubt. And we had to invent a few new holes to replace unusable ones, but the course… was a course, and disc golf is fun. Overall we had 15 disc golf athletes (11 male and 4 female) take the field making it one of our largest events in history.

On the men’s side, Elliot Leuthold announced his return with a solid victory and a few CTP’s. Ban Pich, the course manager had his game face on and played solid end to end to take second. In perhaps the biggest surprise of the tournament, Timmy Davis held a couple strokes on a lead after the first nine holes and held on for a very solid third place. “Dr.” John Kopp and John ”the Philly Kid” Pucci, a last minute travelling sign up found cash in a tie for fourth. And in sixth, the only other player to finish all 27 holes… moi…

As for the women, local ultimate crossover athlete Any Nimsek took gold. Former ultimate player playing disc golf for only the second time, Vivian Jack took silver, and the de facto boss of all flying disc everything in Siem Reap, Becca Smith took bronze.

Thanks to all the competitors and those who made the event happen.
